The Sylvia W. and Randle M. Kauders Foundation to Support Non-Profit Institutions in Philadelphia Region and Beyond
PHILADELPHIA, PA - OCT 23, 2018—Robert Pincus, chair and president of The Sylvia W. and Randle M. Kauders Foundation, announced today that the foundation is ready to move forward and support unique projects and programs that “educate, enrich and engage our community.”
The philanthropic community is invited to visit the foundation’s newly launched website, kaudersfoundation.org.
“It was the vision of our organization’s founder, Sylvia Kauders, to establish a foundation that contributes to non-profit institutions in the greater Philadelphia region and beyond,” says Pincus. “It is the board of directors’ honor and privilege to support institutions that both Sylvia and her husband Randle cherished and supported during their lifetime.”
Kauders passed away in 2016. The foundation exists as a legacy to Sylvia and her husband, Randle, a scientist, engineer, inventor, and adjunct professor who pre-deceased Sylvia in 1994. In her will, she expressed her vision to establish a foundation that provides grants to projects and programs of non-profit institutions that seek to expand and enhance the experiences of members of the community. The foundation will focus its attention on arts and culture, education, health and science, literary, and social engagement.
Each year, organizations will be identified to receive grants to support and advance projects and programs that capture the minds and hearts of diverse audiences. In the coming months, the foundation will announce its inaugural grant award-recipients.
Kauders was a well-known and highly respected public relations professional who worked many decades for the City of Philadelphia, serving five mayors and creating memorable special events that enabled her to work with seven presidents. Post-retirement, Sylvia established herself as a significant player in American film, television and theater
an actress known for numerous small but memorable roles on Broadway and in major motion pictures.
Kauders graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and early-on worked in TV and radio. In 2012, she was inducted into the prestigious Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia. Kauders was also the first woman inducted into the Philadelphia Public Relations Association Hall of Fame.
